Basic mechanism of Greenhouse Effect

Posted by admin on 15 Apr 2008 | Tagged as: Global Warming

The Earth receives energy from the Sun in the form of radiation. Most of the energy is in visible wavelengths and in infrared wavelengths that are near the visible range (often called “near infrared”). The Earth reflects about 30% of the incoming solar radiation. The remaining 70% is absorbed, warming the land, atmosphere and oceans.

Pattern of absorption bands generated by various greenhouse gases and their impact on both solar radiation and upgoing thermal radiation from the Earth’s surface. Note that a greater quantity of upgoing radiation is absorbed, which contributes to the greenhouse effect.

For the Earth’s temperature to be in steady state so that the Earth does not rapidly heat or cool, this absorbed solar radiation must be very closely balanced by energy radiated back to space in the infrared wavelengths. Since the intensity of infrared radiation increases with increasing temperature, one can think of the Earth’s temperature as being determined by the infrared flux needed to balance the absorbed solar flux. The visible solar radiation mostly heats the surface, not the atmosphere, whereas most of the infrared radiation escaping to space is emitted from the upper atmosphere, not the surface. The infrared photons emitted by the surface are mostly absorbed in the atmosphere by greenhouse gases and clouds and do not escape directly to space.

Still a debate

The debate is now launched on global warming, such as the tendency in power won and there’s a lot at stake in a return, the money and power. Pun. Do you believe in global warming? If it means that you believe that humanity is, the CO2 emissions from heating the atmosphere.

The Heat is On

Posted by admin on 05 Apr 2008 | Tagged as: Global Warming

The global warming is not a phenomenon of the 20th Century. In fact, it had in the past repeatedly with periods of extreme cold, which is known as ice. With so written, and gave information on global warming, it is sometimes difficult to discern what is being done and what is not that part of the scientists, tactical scaremongering.
Global warming is mainly to the increase in the average temperature of the earth and their forecasts for the next few years. The super-accelerated before, the rate of warming of the Earth is now allegedly because of the quantity of greenhouse gases, the spat of clouds in the atmosphere. Continue Reading »

Greenhouse Effect

What is Greenhouse Effect?

The greenhouse effect is the process in which the emission of infrared radiation by the atmosphere warms a planet’s surface. The name comes from an incorrect analogy with the warming of air inside a greenhouse compared to the air outside the greenhouse. The greenhouse effect was discovered by Joseph Fourier in 1824 and first investigated quantitatively by Svante Arrhenius in 1896.

The Earth’s average surface temperature of 14 °C (57 °F) would otherwise be about -19 °C (-2.2 °F) in the absence of the greenhouse effect. Global warming, a recent warming of the Earth’s lower atmosphere, is believed to be the result of an enhanced greenhouse effect due to increased concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. In addition to the Earth, Mars and Venus have greenhouse effects.

Makes you happy

Posted by admin on 26 Dec 2007 | Tagged as: Environment, Global Warming, Society

Did you know that increasing the temperature of the brain a degree has more than a negligible impact on the personality of a man on the move? It makes happy. Well, if this is the case, global warming - Bring it on! Make 100’s of Americans who are quite happy walking all day. Wow, I can hardly wait, because the global warming is great.
If we harvest losses due to climate change: What is, the people are happy to be alive, and then they lose even less weight to throw ample supply of food in the world. They may just one degree in temperature of the brain a long happy, it can be that you need a new hat? This is the reason why the "hat" has been so popular in the past. These women all hats must have been headed, warm and happy?
